One shot of just-a-character that I played with this morning. Eternal court.
Clean up line was done with a mechanical pencil so it's a fairly thin, clean line with a consistent weight. Colour adjusted line in photoshop to a dark brown. Used the same brown to mock in a two-tone shade with just your basic brush tool. Color dodged the layer, set it to 50% fill, and offset it slightly. Slapped down a colour layer between the two (line underneath) and set it to multiply. Topped it off with a pure white highlight layer.
Total work time after having done the clean up line traditionally was approximately 40 minutes. That includes revisions and decision making. Time could be substantially shortened by having another hand drawn layer dictating the outline of the shade and highlight. Time could also be shortened by a set colour palette, and use of the wand and fill tools.
Not something I'm trying to sell anyone on particularly, only sharing where I'm at so far on my own over here.
Best fun I've had all week

Her dress needs to cover her better here also... her kiss blowing action has made her forget her modesty.
I agree Amber, the dress would be nice a bit longer, but not too much. I'd keep the low neckline though, hahah. I like the two moles, though they should vary in size. I'm thinking the big one on her neck.
I like again as in Henry's the roundess to it. It keeps its flat look yet has some nice apeal to it rather than a crude look. So that can be an option to explore for sure.
interesting. there's something about this i find awkward...
i know u'll think i'm crazy when i say this.. but i feel like... it's not as simple as I would like. and i say *I* in a very selfish manner. please don't take this personally. but i like what you're trying to do here.. playing with a different side to our ecks. maybe the fact that her body gets smaller as it goes down bugs me. not the small legs.. which i love. but her actual torso? like.. she doesn't have an ass or something?? well~~~ just something seems a little awkard. pregnant? i think that that her hair that separates into two different levels (side to the back) bugs me too. i know it says structure... but.. for the style that i myself envision... that's kinda not it.
i'm sorry! please dont' take this personally. i'm just trying to be as honest as i can about the design. and as specific as i can. but i love your explorations! =D
I really like her arms in this, especially her elbows. Loving her face. I agree with making the moles different sizes and keeping the really low neckline.
I like that this keeps volume while still being flat. Haha, what an oxymoronic thing to say... Anyway, I think the shading probably has a big part to play in defining the volume, so I like that a lot.
I really like this ones. Like the flowy lines, while keeping it nice and graphic. Like the style overall. Like the Air-Guitar pose :P
The legs look a little different to me. Think they might need clarification if I were to animate it.
Really like this one, though.
I like the design, but maybe with a more scarry pose.
